The Co-operatives Board

The Board is appointed by the Minister responsible for Co-operative Societies. The main duties of the Board are to:

• register and exercise control over co-operative societies in accordance with the provisions of the Act;
• advise the Minister on any matter relating to co-operative societies, and in particular in respect of any assistance, financial or otherwise, which may be required by co-operative societies;
• encourage the establishment of co-operative societies in all sections of the economy and to help co-operative societies to increase their efficiency.
